Thor's Well #1

Thor's Well #1 by Patty Ryan, Oil, 12 x 12

Oil on Panel 12" x 12" $200.00 USD Sold

Thor’s Well #1 was inspired by the hole in the ocean that bears its name located on the rugged shoreline of Cape Perpetua. Apparently Thor’s Well is named after the Norse god of thunder, Thor. Legend says that Thor created the sinkhole after striking the earth.

The water flowing into the hole makes it appear as if the ocean is draining away. Different atmospheric conditions and changing tides alter the color of the rocks and flow of the water at Thor’s Well. As an artist, I find this provides ample inspiration to paint Thor’s Well more than once.

This painting is an oil on panel, framed in a walnut-finished floater frame. It is available directly from the artist using the Add to Cart button above. Shipping is free within the US.
